AIGS Scholarship

The Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education, 

and the Alberta Innovates

Saeed received the Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarship (AIGSS) to support his graduate research at the University of Alberta. AIGSS, offered by the Alberta Advanced Education and Alberta Innovates, is a provincial award that aims to support the development of academically superior graduate students undertaking full-time graduate research and education at an Alberta university. It is one of the most prestigious scholarships available to graduate students in the province.

BSTF Travel Grant

2019–2020

Saeed was awarded a Travel Grant from the Bangladesh-Sweden Trust Fund (BSTF) to travel to Canada to study at the University of Alberta. BSTF provides a one-way travel grant that supports Bangladeshi undergraduate and postgraduate students to help pursue studies abroad. The grant is awarded to students who receive merit-based scholarships to pursue higher studies, have financial constraints, and play an important role in the country's socio-economic development.

MatCH Scholarship 

Maternal & Child Health Scholarship Program

University of Alberta

May 25, 2019

Saeed was accepted into the Medical Sciences Graduate Program at the University of Alberta (U of A) with full funding supports offered by the Maternal and Child Health (MatCH) Scholarship Program. He received the scholarship to pursue a Master's Thesis in Medical Genetics. The MatCH program at the U of A is a merit-based, highly competitive graduate scholarship program jointly funded by the Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI), Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, and the U of A Office of the Provost.

March 12–13, 2019

Another Poster Award!
Our poster entitled "Elucidation of the molecular mechanism of two Bangladeshi patients with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome" won the First Prize in Health and Genetics category at the International Conference on Advancement of Life Sciences 2019, held at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. Special thanks to Sabrina Sharmin for her outstanding effort. Congratulations to all coauthors from Dr. Mohammad Jakir Hosen's lab.

Graduated! With Distinction! Saeed graduated with a B.Sc with Honours in Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology from the School of Life Sciences. He was one of the four spotlight graduates of the class of 2017 to receive a Distinction! This is the highest academic recognition awarded by the Shahjalal University of Science & Technology Office of the Registrar! Thanks to the professors, beautiful friends, family, and everyone else who supported Saeed during this journey! 
This one is for my beloved Father!

Hooray for one another Poster Award! 
Saeed's poster entitled "Abnormal serum lipid levels and relative risk for hypothyroidism in patients with diabetes mellitus in Bangladesh" won the Second Prize in Health and Medicine category at the International Conference on Biological and Environmental Resources 2018, held at Jashore University of Science and Technology. Heartiest congratulations to all the coauthors, including Jarin Taslem Mourosi, Dr. Soheli Hasan Chhoya (CBMCB), and Dr. Mohammad Jakir Hosen

31st BSM Conf. '18

Saeed and his team's poster won the Second Prize for their paper entitled "Identification of potential therapeutic targets in Proteus mirabilis: a subtractive genomics approach" at the 31st Conference of Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists 2018, held at the University of Dhaka. This project received no funding support. So happy, it finally received some sort of recognition! Congratulations to all the coauthors, including Elme Tabassum, Nafisa Nawaar, and Dr. Mohammad Jakir Hosen

Champion
Scientific Idea Contest
BABG National Congress '17

April 28, 2017

Saeed and his team was the Champion of the Scientific Idea Contest at the BABG National Congress 2017, organized by the Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates and Jahangirnagar University. Their idea entitled "Inhibition of extracellular matrix Granzyme B to prevent tissue damage from chronic inflammation" received great appreciation from all the judges and attendees. Thanks to Elme Tabassum and Jarin Taslem Mourosi for the great collaboration.
